"Imperfect" ceramics 👩🏻🎨 🏺
Gina Zycher is a potter based in Los Angeles, making both on and off the potter's wheel. When she hand build, she love to create forms that are "imperfect" and have character but she also try to not steer too far away fro the simple quality of her work on the wheel.
"My goal is to create pieces that have their own kind of grace without being too delicate"
She like to work with many different clay bodies. Her favorites tend to be sandy and iron-rich. She also love experimenting with glaze combinations and application techniques. All of her work is stoneware that is fired in a gas kiln to cone 10, reaching a temperature of 2381 degrees Fahrenheit. Firing this way can yield unexpected but beautiful results, which is part of what makes her pottery exciting and magical.
